Where do I find the alphabet reference?
Open the Practice tab and tap Alphabet under Reference. It’s part of free access, and opening it never uses one of your three daily lesson starts.
What does it cover beyond the basic letters?
It depends on your course. Japanese adds dakuten and handakuten marks, small kana, and the long vowel mark to its hiragana and katakana, and Mandarin covers Pinyin tones, initials, and finals. Arabic adds hamza forms, short vowel marks, and Eastern Arabic numerals, and Hindi adds vowel signs, common conjuncts, and nuqta letters.
Do courses that use the Latin alphabet have a reference too?
Yes. You’ll see the full alphabet, and most courses add their accents, special letters, and letter combinations, such as ñ and ll in Spanish, ç and œ in French, ä and ß in German, or ij in Dutch.
Can I turn off romanization?
Yes. Lessons in the Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Russian, and Hindi courses show romanization by default. When you’re ready to read the script on its own, turn off Show romanization in Settings, which opens from the gear on the Passport tab.
